“Waste Land” is the second episode of season two of Generator Rex and the 22nd of the overall series. It debuted on February 11, 2011.
Overview[]
On a mission to recover a set of nuclear reactor cores from a research ship, Rex and Six encounter an advanced civilization of marine EVOs!
Plot[]
An EVO sinks a nuclear-powered research ship, but does not harm the crew. Agent Six and Rex are sent in to recover the nuclear rods to prevent any casualties to the ocean. They end up going to “Trash Island” which Holiday claims is roughly twice the size of Texas and was created by the currents sweeping together all the garbage in the oceans. Those very currents also swept up every nanite in the ocean, causing the island to be inhabited by EVOs.
Six and Rex discover an underwater world within Trash Island, which is unexpectedly hollow. They come to know that it is a city built out of EVO coral and is known as Aquania. Rex and Six get into a fight with various aquatic EVOs led by another EVO, once human, named Serge. Rex convinces Serge by explaining the researchers had no ill intentions, and soon calm down to talk the matter out.

Serge explains that after he turned into an EVO, he discovered a way of controlling the near sapient EVOs and has been using them to convert the harmful garbage into the coral to build the city.
Things deteriorate as the wreckage of the ship falls into an abyss. Six informs that If it reaches the bottom, then the pressure will crush the ship with the fuel rods, and spread nuclear waste across the oceans, making it an unsuitable habitat. Serge and Rex go down to the ship, surviving thanks to their mutual super human durability, and retrieve the nuclear rods. Afterwards, Rex and Six promise not to tell anyone of Aquania. After they leave the city, Rex reveals that he took one of the newborn Crustacean EVOs as a gift to Dr. Holiday.
