Hey, JuniperAlien. I've been doing good. Past few weeks have been kinda hectic, studying for finals and all. But thankfully this is the last week of classes. How about you, have you been doing all right? :-)
No prob. I've been so nostalgic recently and so I've really missed the wiki. I deleted some articles I started and probably never got the chance to finish and all.
Edit: Also, I'm not sure if its my computer, but whenever I go on an article of a character has EVO and Pre-EVO images, it only shows one image. I tried seeing if it was the template, but I don't see anything wrong with it. My best guess is the file names?
Ahh, I see. It doesn't work on any other of my internet browsers, but it does work when I look at the history. Okay, that's fine, because I thought it was just an issue with the wiki or something. Thanks, Kataraaa.
Do you like Marvel btw? Im asking because y'know, Age of Ultron just came out and I was wondering if you're into those superhero films or whatnot.
...I think it works on my Internet Explorer browser because I haven't updated it in a while, lol. Anyway, I looked at some other wikis that use the same template, and it doesn't appear to work on those sites either. So it's definitely not a wiki issue. And you're welcome. :-D
Yes, I like Marvel a lot (DC as well). I've seen pretty much every movie they've released, although I haven't watched Age of Ultron yet.
By the way, I love what you've done with Tuck and Skwydd's articles, especially the way you rewrote their personality sections. They are sooo much better now, lol. In fact, I'm thinking Tuck's article should be the next featured article.
Cool ^_^. Have you watched any other things recently? Such as Agents of Shield, or Agent Carter? I'd like to check out Daredevil on Netflix.
And thaaanks. You made it 10x better though. I was on Cricket's article and when I moved on to Tuck it was practically the same thing. Also, I'd like to talk to you about a something: Physical appearances; I'm beginning to think the content isn't really needed anymore. Maybe when I was younger, but I've realized it's pretty pointless now, especially for an animated series, y'know?
Edit: Oh right! I also feel that "Powers and abilities" should just be titled, "Abilities". It's more general.
I've been watching Agents of Shield (need to catch up on a few episodes, though). Its second season has been a huge improvement over the first, in my opinion. Also, based on a recommendation, I recently started watching an anime called Hunter X Hunter. I didn't think I would like it since I've never been a big fan of anime, but man... I'm actually impressed by this one so far! The plot twists are really good and I like most of the characters already. It's making me reevaluate my views on anime, lol.
Aw, thanks. :-) And I agree that physical appearances aren't really needed. I also like the idea of renaming "Powers and abilities" to "Abilities."
By the way, a few weeks ago I came across this official Generator Rex art and thought it would make a good wiki background. What do you think? It's been a while since I've updated the site's look, so I was thinking a change might be nice. I also wanted to adjust the color scheme a bit. (And I need to finish the characters portal too, since some of those images were meant to be placeholders...)
Hm, I don't think I really have a favorite char yet. I'm not even sure what season I'm up to. Wow, we're pretty much watching the same things, aha. I've been watching Naruto also. Let me know when you get to shippuden :D. It gets so much better.
By the way, I just disovered what was making the switches not work for the infoboxes. It's because I have adblock. I feel like such an idiot. So I think it'll be find to keep the switches instead of the tabbers.
Yeah, I've been watching LoK too (although I haven't gotten around to viewing episode 7 yet). So far it's been an improvement over the last season. Korra's behavior is a lot more tolerable now, and most of the new plot lines are interesting. I do think the group of villains led by Zaheer are the weakest part of the story, though... I hope their motivations and personalities are expanded on over the next few episodes, because aside from their fight scenes, I've found them to be rather lackluster.
What about you, are you liking the new season so far?
Hey JuniperAlien, how have you been? Sorry I've been away so long. School has been taking up almost all of my free time... :-(
In brighter news, did you hear about Korra's final season beginning next Friday? I'm actually kind of excited about it, especially after watching the trailer. I thought last season had a pretty good conclusion too, although there's still a few loose ends they need to address. It's a shame they killed off most of the Red Lotus before we could learn much about their backgrounds, though. Some of them had the potential to be very interesting characters.
Aha, it's okay. I can relate the school feeling as well.
But yes! I'm super excited, especially since it's 3 years into the series. They're in they're 20's! The new antagonist looks pretty rad too. Also, I could understand what you meant by the Red Lotus. There was also something that I was always hoping would get clarified. I don't know if you ever came across it, but someone actually analyzed that picture Suyin had when she was in the circus, and in the circus she was sitting on a man's shoulder who looked exactly like Zaheer. Then again maybe it isn't him.
Wow, I never even noticed that before! That definitely looks like Zaheer. Really makes me wish the show would have expounded on that, haha.
Anyway, I just caught up with watching the first two episodes of season four. Looks like we're off to a very solid start. The second episode is probably one of the best episodes of Korra so far (although I think "Beginnings" is still my favorite). It set up a pretty interesting character arc for Korra and also had a lot of poignant moments. I'm most excited to see what's going to happen with Toph! It's so good to see her again. :D
What'd you think of last weeks episode? It was pretty good if you asked me. I'm liking Kuvira, a little, aha. However, I only like her because, so far, she seems like a pretty great protagonist. She has a lot of followers and stuff so she seems pretty formidable. I can't wait to see the show-off her and Korra have.
Yeah, I really liked episode 3. As for Kuvira... I'm kind of neutral toward her. Her abilities are cool, but I feel like she doesn't have much character depth. Kind of reminds me of Zaheer in that respect. Thankfully, we still have quite a few episodes to go, so hopefully my initial impressions will be proven wrong.
Anyway, I didn't care much for last week's episode. I thought it was a little boring (and gross) at times. The preview for this week's episode looks pretty good, though! Really looking forward to a showdown between Kuvira and Korra.
Excuse me for interrupting, I only wanted to say hello to both of you : - ) and also I wanted to ask if you read the books "Mirror Mirror" and "The Trade"? Those books are about Generator Rex, they were written by Barry Hutchison and published in 2011 by Egmont. I read them and I think those books are quite interesting : - )
I see. May be I will write an article about those books for the wiki, if I have time : - )
As for comics, I like to read them and to draw them too. I drew comics about my version of "Written in sand" episode (It has 70 pages in total), and now I draw comics about my second favourite episode "Leader of the Pack" : - )
Merry Christmas to the both of you! :-) (And sorry for the late reply.)
@Methodius Buslaev, I haven't read those books either. What you said made me want to learn more about them though, so I looked them up on Amazon. Based on the previews I read, those books seem very interesting! Makes me wish they had been made into episodes. :-)
@JuniperAlien, I've been feeling the same way about this final season of Korra. Ah, you still haven't watched the season two finale? Haha, I don't blame you. The show's creators actually made fun of how absurd it was in the episode "Remembrances". Anyway, did you like the series finale? It was just okay for me. There were things I liked about it (like the action scenes), but there were also things that left me kind of underwhelmed (like the resolution for Kuvira). I don't know... To be honest, I'm kind of glad the series is over. It was a good show overall, but I really think it dragged on for too long.
I've been dying to talk about the finale with you. Nothing beats the Atla finale, but I enjoyed this one too. I liked the action scenes as well, but I didn't really like Kuvira's resolution either. At first she was made out to be some genocidal sociopath, then Korra just talks to her about being an orphan and...yeah, she just gave in too willingly if you asked me. Lol, I was thinking Korra was going to either kill her or take away her bending. But yeah, I'm glad it's over too. The ending was very subtle also, it wasn't too much and it had a parallel to atla's ending.
What do you think about Korrasami btw? By that, I mean; do you think it was initial from the start of the series or do you think it sorta came out of no where? It came out of left field if you ask me. I'm still happy it happened, but I think it only happened because the fans shipped Korrasami so much, the creators considered it (that's actually great that the creators listened to the voices of their fans).
Yep, you hit the nail on the head regarding my problems with Kuvira. I guess we'll never know what her ultimate fate was, but at the very least, Korra really should have taken her bending away. She just seems like too much of a liability otherwise... Come to think of it, I don't understand why they imprisoned Zaheer without taking away his bending. Just seems like it'll only be a matter of time before he breaks out again, lol.
Korrasami definitely came out of nowhere for me too. It definitely wasn't planned from the start; I remember hearing about a DVD commentary where the creators said Korra and Mako "were made for each other," or something like that. So like you said, the decision to make Korrasami canon was probably greatly influenced by the fans. Anyway, I didn't really care for Korrasami because their relationship always seemed sisterly to me. On top of that, I always found Asami to be a little bland. She had lots of potential, but unlike most of the other characters, she never really seemed to change. The way she was in the beginning of the series was basically the same way she was in the end. Of course, not every character can be dynamic; but in general, I find that I don't care as much about static characters unless their personalities and backgrounds are well-developed.
You know what I didn't expect to enjoy as much as I did, though? Varrick and Zhu Li's wedding, lol. I had always liked those characters, even in season two. But I just felt like they had some really good development this season--not just in their relationship, but also as individuals. So I was quite glad they ended up together in the finale.
Oh my god, I know right!? I felt the same way about Asami too. I thought I was the only one who felt that Asami was just...there. Like how you mentioned the DVD commentary; I remember reading somewhere (I think it was the art book) that they originally planned her out to be a double agent for the Equalits. With that being said, she would've been only good for one season since Book 1 was the Equalist Arc. I feel like they put her in there for the sake of Mako's relationship with her. Since that didn't work out, they made that turn with Korrasami since fans shipped it so much. So my only guess is that they didn't work with her character enough. Yeah, she had feelings and stuff, but she was never fully fledged out like Korra, Mako, or Bolin. I remember there would be times I would watch an episode and think to myself, "Where's Asami?" because she would always be missing in action or just standing quiet in the background or something. Also, I would've enjoyed seeing more fight scenes with her. I grew to somewhat like her. She was just really underdeveloped.
But yes, I liked Varrick's wedding too. My favorite parts were watching little Rohan running around and Ikki dancing with Huan. Ah man, Avatar took us on a long and fun journey.
Nope, you're certainly not the only one, haha. ^^ And what you said about Asami's original role explains a lot... Now it makes sense to me why the writers didn't seem to know what to do with her most of the time. Anyway, I completely agree with what you said.
Yeah, I liked those parts of the wedding too. Very cute and heartwarming. Indeed, it's been a lot of fun. I'm glad we still have some Avatar comics to look forward to in the future.
This is completely off-topic, but I've been thinking about updating the featured article and image for this month. I'll probably have some options for you to choose from by this weekend. Talk to you later. :-)
Wow, I still havent read the atla comics. I plan on it soon, though.
But yeah, I've been thinking about it too. But you're like, the best at those type of things. So, I'll be waiting.
Also, when you get the chance, do you know if you can explain to me how you managed to make the templates not create a giant space before the opening summary on articles? I'm working on another wiki, and I've tried separating the summary from the "}}" near the end of the character template like we do on here, but it's creating this huge space. Know what I mean?
Hmm, there could be a few things causing that problem. To begin with, check to see if the template has too many line break tags at the end of it. Break tags look like this:
Secondly, does the template have a "class" attribute in it? (For example, something like: class="infobox") If so, take note of the class name and go to the MediaWiki:Common.css or MediaWiki:Wikia.css pages to see exactly what that class does. (A class is a set of predetermined formatting rules, much like a style in Microsoft Word). Make sure the class's "margin-bottom" property isn't too large; also make sure that it has "float: right;" and "clear: right;" properties (this ensures that the text will wrap around the infobox).
To give you an example: if you go to this wiki's MediaWiki:Wikia.css page, you will see the following characteristics for a class named "infobox" (note that class names are preceded by a period mark):
This means that all of the properties within the curly braces will be applied to templates that have class="infobox".
If the template does not have a class attribute, you will need to create a class in css that has the "float: right;" property and then have the infobox template reference that class. To my knowledge, that is the only way to get the text to wrap around the infobox properly.
I hope that helps! If not, give me a link to the template and I'll see if I can figure out what the problem is.
Hey, JuniperAlien. =) Yeah, I saw it. I kind of have mixed feelings about it. One thing that really stood out to me was the relationship between Tenzin, Kya, and Bumi... I'm not saying it isn't realistic. I'm just kind of taken aback at the level of resentment and bitterness between them. Sometimes I think the squabbling was being played more for comedy, but for the most part it seemed quite serious. Surely Aang loved all of his kids, right? (Hopefully?) So yeah, I definitely wasn't expecting this much family drama. I just hope that it doesn't end up making Aang seem out of character. :-/
Anyway, I'd love to hear what you thought about the episode. What did you feel iffy about?
Well, since things are extremely different now. It all really just takes a while getting use to. Korra's attitude really bothers me. I know the creators wanted to make her a polar opposite, being confident and headstrong, but I see it as cocky and subborn. Also, I kind of understand what you what mean about the siblings. When that little situation came up, I was kind of questioning myself on what if Aang really did treat Tenzin more as a favorite. I mean I know he loved his children, but if you really think about it, I can surely understand why he'd really favor a child thats an airbender considering his past and all. But holy crap, it kind of hurt me inside, aha. Bumi, showing off to not be a bender made me sad, and Kya moving to the South to help out Katara hurt me more. Gosh, too many feelings, lol.
Also, I just really hate Mako after what he did to Asami. I can't ever forgive him. It wasn't even like he broke up with her.
I agree, it's quite different from the first season of Korra. So far a lot of stuff has been happening, but...it just hasn't really captured my interest yet. And yeah, I don't like Korra's attitude either. I think I'd be more okay with it if she was given some character development, but so far she seems to be acting the same way she did in season one. What you said about Aang actually makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, although it's sad to think about. Maybe that's one of the reasons I haven't been enjoying this season as much as I thought I would. All of the drama is making it a little less fun to watch, lol.
Yeah, Mako's a really poor character. I'm just glad that Asami is no longer with him. She really does deserve better. Also, I'm kind of enjoying seeing Korra chew out Mako all the time. XD
Off-topic: I've been thinking about updating the wiki's featured article and image since it's been a while. I would like to make Eden Williams the featured article. It's a little short, but I think the writing is good. On top of that, a comic book character has never been featured before, so I thought it'd be nice to change it up a little.
As for the featured image, I was thinking either this one or this one. I think I like the first option a little more than the second, but either one is fine with me.
It hasn't grasped much of my attention either. Before, when ATLA was airing new episodes, I'd stay pinned to the television until the episode aired. If I missed an episode, I'd search the whole web for it.
Now, it's like I don't really care whether or not I miss it. I mean, I'll eventually see it, but I don't expect anything. Maybe it just needs a little more time. I said the same thing for the first season too...I don't know.
Anywho, I was just thinking of Eden's page not to long ago. Her page is actually well done. So yeah, aha. I agree with that. As for the images, I like the first image too.
Lol, sure seems that way, doesn't it? Korra's attitude gets worse and worse with each episode... On top of that, I still don't understand where the plot's going with all of this. It's like the show can't make up its mind on what it wants to focus on. So yeah, I didn't like this episode at all. Korra definitely needs to get some character development in the next episode, because as it is, I can't stand her.
What was the point of having her lose her memory if she was going to get it back so quickly? Seems like a wasted opportunity. In any case, I hope she'll start to act differently now that she's learned about Wan's past. Speaking of which, I thought Wan was pretty cool. He had a likable personality and an interesting background. In the span of two episodes, I actually cared more about him than Korra. As for the origin story of the Avatar... I kind of wish it had remained a mystery, but all in all, I thought it was decent. I did have some problems with it (specifically, there were a few plotholes and it seemed to retcon some things established in ATLA). But my expectations for this show have been very low, so I guess that's why it didn't bother me that much. In any case, I thought the last two episodes were probably the best I've seen from LOK so far.
Yeah, the writers really shouldn't have brought back that awful love triangle. I just hope it gets resolved quickly. They don't need to waste any more screentime on it since this season only has four episodes left.
Anyway, I thought the latest episode was good. I actually really liked the design of the spirit world. The creepy parts were particularly well done. Also, I definitely wasn't expecting Iroh to show up! On one hand, it was great to see him again since he was always one of my favorite characters in ATLA. But the thought of him living in the spirit world without his family is kind of sad... So I guess it was a bittersweet moment for me.
I'm a little disappointed that Jinora didn't even get the chance to guide Korra. On top of that, it seems Korra would have found the portals on her own anyway, so it kind of makes Jinora's sacrifice seem unnecessary. I'm curious as to how they'll get her back, though.
I'm so sorry I'm replying so late, Katara. By the way, I have a couple of ideas for the wiki. Recently, I've added battle pages. Not only because the show is action oriented and has numerous important skirmishes, but because I miss this wiki and it could always use an improvement.
Also, I was thinking if you knew how to add tabs to the infoboxes. Like most wikis, they have tabs to show different appreances of certain characters. Therefore we can use the tabs to show their E.V.O. appearance and human appreance. However, I wouldn't be quite sure how that might work for Circe.
I liked the first three episodes of the finale, even though the plot felt kind of forced at times. The last episode was pretty disappointing, though (at least from a writing standpoint). Unalaq turned out to be a very one-dimensional villain. Korra's problems were mostly resolved through deus ex machinas. And once again, Korra really wasn't the one who defeated the villain in the end. I don't know, so far she just hasn't been very impressive in her role as the Avatar. On top of that, she's now lost her connection to all the past Avatars (for the time being, at least)... Sure, it wasn't entirely her fault—and I actually think it was a good idea to shake up the status quo like that—but when you have a character that fails so often, at a certain point they just begin to look incompetent. If the writers keep this up, Korra really will live up to being "the worst Avatar ever," as she put it.
I checked out the "Fights (Season one)" page you added. I really like it! And yeah, I've missed this wiki too. I'm going to try to start contributing more often.
You know, that sounds like a really great idea. Unfortunately, I don't know how to add tabs to infoboxes, but I'm going to check out the coding for it on some other wikis and see if I can figure out how it works. Regarding Circe, I guess her infobox could just be left the way it is.
The final episode, to me, was garbage. No offense, but I felt like I was watching power rangers all over again. Not that I've had a problem with it, but I didn't really enjoy it. I didn't even watch the whole episode because I was annoyed to watch it by that point, aha. With the Unalaq turning into this huge...colossal spirit thingy, and Korra doing the same...
I honestly, didn't know what to think of it. I could watch the original series a million times and always be satisfied. Ugh, let's see what the next season has to offer.
By the way, I've been looking for ways to the tabs and they're really difficult to do, aha. I was really close to making it, but there was something wrong with the coding and the template. Anyway, thanks a lot for the your input.
Yeah, that whole fight scene was very reminiscent of Power Rangers, especially with how cheesy it was. I can't say that you really missed anything by not finishing the episode. It actually just goes downhill from there. Korra decides to leave the spirit portals open in the end, so now spirits can freely roam the physical world. I don't know, that just sounds like a really, really bad idea to me (not to mention unsettling). Also, Mako and Korra break up once again, yet they say they'll always love each other. And then they kiss immediately afterward. Not a very convincing breakup, huh? Ugh, I wouldn't be surprised if they get back together in the next season.
I know what you mean, I recently finished watching the original Avatar series all over again. Such an amazing show. I'm not too optimistic about the next season of Korra, but I'm still going to watch it out of curiosity.
Yeah, the coding for it can be really complex, depending on how the tabs look. But I think I've finally found a way to do it that's relatively simple. I'm going to try it out later and see if it works.
You're welcome, glad I could help. I've actually got some ideas for this wiki myself, but I'll tell you about that some other time since I'm going to be logging off soon. Talk to you later!
Sorry for the delay. First off, let me give you an update about the tabs. After browsing through various wikis (mostly popular anime wikis, since they often seem to use tabs to show the difference between a character's manga/anime appearance), I finally found a template that we can adapt for this wiki. It's called a Switch template, and I've seen quite a few variations of it. One of the simplest versions I could find was this one. In order for it to work, a Toggle template also has to be created, and the code for that should be placed in MediaWiki:Common.js as well. For the most part it looks pretty straightforward to implement, so I guess the main question is whether or not you like the way those tabs look. Granted, they're not as fancy as some others, but I think they still look good.
All right, let's move on to some of the changes I had in mind. I've been thinking for a while now that this wiki's homepage could use a redesign. Although it currently functions pretty well, I do think the layout could be improved somewhat (for example, I would like to make the Contents, Featured Article, and Announcements sections more visually separated, which would be more conducive to mobile phone viewing). I also plan to add some new features to the home page. As far as the color scheme goes, I don't want to alter it too much since it already looks good, but I do plan on tweaking it a bit. I was also thinking of changing the background, or at the very least, making that dark brown area in the center blend into the sides like a gradient.
The next change I wanted to make is in regards to the Quotes pages. I believe we should gradually phase them out and replace them with Quotes sections at the bottom of character/episode articles (featuring only the most notable quotes). Frankly, many of the Quotes articles have gotten very long and unwieldy (just take a look at Rex's quotes page), and the sheer number of additional pages makes it more difficult to monitor and proofread entries. Furthermore, I plan to eventually start working on the episode transcripts, so there'll be less of a reason to keep the Quotes articles.
I do have one final suggestion I'd like to make, but it's pretty minor. I'll tell you about it later since this is kind of turning into a wall of text.
Firstly, to cover the tabs, I actually don't mind the switch. I feel that if it's much simpler than the tabs (which I find somewhat confusing to create and use), then anyone could do it, including other contributors. So, I'm all for the switch template.
As for the homepage of the wiki, I've been getting pretty bored with the appearance and I've been actually wanting a change. I've been thinking a lot about the background image, but I'll let you know if something comes to mind. If you'd like to improve the homepage, go nuts; it's your turf.
Also, I always wondered the same thing about the quote articles. I'm iffy about them. Mostly because a lot of them are pretty pointless: some only having, like, one or two quotes, and on top of that we have the transcripts. Although we don't have much, I find it strange to have a completed transcript for one episode meanwhile there's a quote page, not to mention there's one for the characters too; so it's like the same thing being repeated. Honestly, I felt that the quotes should just be discarded for the characters, but I'm not sure about the episodes. I mean, unless you really feel that we should keep them, then I have no problem.
Alrighty then, thanks for the ideas; I think they were great. Happy New Years to you too!
All right then, I'll probably set it up later today. By the way, what do you think the template's default captions should be? I was thinking "Pre-EVO form" and "EVO form", since that could be applicable to many different kinds of EVOs. But do you think "Pre-EVO form" could be phrased better?
In that case, I won't worry about preserving the current color scheme. The design will be a complete overhaul. I've already started to plan out some of the changes I'm going to make, so hopefully I'll be able to begin updating the homepage soon.
Yeah, the quote articles are very repetitive. I'm kind of torn about whether or not character quotes should be discarded altogether. On one hand, I've seen quote sections work very well on some wikis. Carefully selected quotes can really give the reader a clearer sense of a character's personality. On the other hand, it's a lot of work to select those quotes! And the personality section essentially performs the same function. Hmm... I guess I'll have to think about it a little more. As far as episode quotes go, I honestly see no reason to keep those.
I mentioned I had another idea a few days ago. Well, it was about the way "EVO" is spelled on this wiki. I've noticed that it's kind of inconsistent; sometimes it's "EVO", sometimes it's "E.V.O." I believe both ways are correct, but for the sake of consistency, we probably should settle on just one way of spelling it. I would prefer "EVO" since that's how it's spelled on the official site as well as in episode credits. In any case, I realize that all of this would be a huge task to complete, so there's no rush. I know bots can quickly perform automated changes like that, so perhaps I'll look into how to set up one.
Anyway, thanks for your feedback. I'm glad to hear you liked my ideas.
I was thinking E.V.O form and Human form would be good to use, but I like your better. What I was beginning to think about was how it would be used on a page like Beverly's, considering that she had been mutated, even as an E.V.O. and had two different appearances as an E.V.O. By the way, can't wait to see how the homepage turns out.
When it comes to the quotes, if you want the episode quotes gone, I completely agree. So, I'll begin to delete all those articles pretty soon.
I've been so use to placing E.V.O., but I'm guessing that in this universe, it's seen more of an actual word and terminology rather than an abbreviation. So I'm up for sticking to EVO too. But I do have to agree, that' gonna be a lot of editing, aha. Let the hard work begin.
Not to mention, I've always been meaning to remind you, but I keep forgetting. The wiki still has tons of unused images. I remember last time we were deleting the images, I think we believed that we had deleted all the images before we had gotten rid of the gallery articles (I remember being so happy, aha). So once those articles were deleted, they went right back to the unused images. I'll try to take care of them by using a bot or something. If you need any assistance, just let me know so I can help you out.
Well, in a situation like that, I would have the template display the character's natural EVO state. In most cases that would be the character's most common appearance, so it should probably take precedence over any altered EVO forms.
I agree, that's all the more reason to spell it as EVO. By the way, if you want to begin changing E.V.O. to EVO without the help of a bot, I'd recommend using the "Find and Replace" feature of a word processing program. That'll make things a little easier.
Hmm, I didn't know we still had so many unused images. For the time being, let's not get rid of any of them. There might be some images I can use on the homepage in some way. Speaking of which, I was wondering if you would prefer the new design to have an overall darker or lighter color scheme than the current.
All right then, I've decided to go with a lighter color scheme. I haven't finished tweaking the colors yet, though.
By the way, I recently found this website that has excellent tutorials on CSS (basically, CSS allows for greater customization of a website's appearance). So I'm going to hold off on making any major changes to the structure of the homepage until I've gone through more of the tutorials.
I really apologize Katara. Anyway, I really like the homepage. It's good to see it different now. Thanks for the link by the way, I'll try to get started on it if I can. I've been working and worrying about school.
My last computer went down, and I was in the process of getting a new one. I finally got it, but now I have to worry about transferring information, which is probably one of the most difficult things ever...especially if its a wireless transfer. Ugh, please bear with me, aha.
No problem, take your time. I'm glad to hear you were able to get a new computer.
By the way, I've been meaning to ask you what you think March's featured article should be. My pick would probably be Exponentially Variegated Organism (although I'd like to make a few revisions to it first).
I'm not really sure about the featured image. Maybe this or this? I think both have nice color schemes.
Here is the Character Infobox template I've been working on. It's not finished yet, since I will be adjusting the color and formatting some more later; however, the main thing I wanted you to see is the structural changes (for example, the table data now have borders, the headings extend across the entire infobox, etc.). For a comparison, you can view the previous version of the template here.
Lol, thanks! I'm really glad you like the new look. =)
You know, I've also been thinking about adding a character portal to the homepage (like the one that Avatar Wiki used to have). I've already found some templates that will work and am in the process of modifying them. I think I'll be able to finish it in a few days.
Say, have you ever heard of W3Schools? I've gone through most of the HTML and CSS tutorials on their website, and I can honestly say that it's almost just as good as taking a class about coding. Best of all, it's free, lol.
Aww, thanks, that's very kind of you to say. ^^ You and the other contributors here have done a great job maintaining the wiki too.
We use to have something like that it actually got in the way of a lot of things. It was hard to follow up on the activity feed. People commented so much to the point where it was pretty disturbing. A lot of the comments didn't make sense, weren't relevant, and etc. Also, the wiki is still kind of far from finished, so it still can get in the way.
I get it.In avatar wiki there is a lot of irrevelevant comment on those talk page. However it is still cool.Trust me a talk page will make this wiki more interesting. If you had that then bring that again. It will be nice.
Sorry for the late reply. Anyway, I agree with what JuniperAlien said. I don't think enabling comments would be a good idea at this time. But perhaps we could enable the forum feature as a compromise (I don't mean the forum we currently have, but the new one that operates more like a Message Wall). That would probably encourage more relevant, structured discussions since posts would be organized by topic. I think it would also be easier to moderate because all of the discussions would be accessible from a centralized location. Furthermore, I don't think spam will be as big of a problem now since Wikia has disabled anonymous editing on this wiki. So I would support enabling the forum feature. But first, I'd like to hear what JuniperAlien thinks about it.
I agree that they should have their own category. To create a new category, click the "Contribute" button in the top right corner of the page. Next, click "Add a Page" from the drop-down menu. For the article name, type "Category:" (omit the quotation marks) followed by the name of the category you want to create. For example, you could type "Category:Cartoon Network Action Pack" for the article name. For the page layout, select "Blank page". Click the "Add a Page" button, then click the publish button.
