Allusions[]
- The title is a combination of the Ben 10 and Generator Rex titles.
- Like "Heroes United":
- The special has musical motifs due to the reboot sharing the same composer as the original Generator Rex series.
- Rex mistakes Ben's aliens for rampaging EVOs before teaming up to take down the main villain.
- Ben calls Rex "Robot Boy".
- Bobo calling Diamondhead a "walking chandelier" is a possible reference to the Ben 10 episode "Midnight Madness", when Sublimino calls Diamondhead "[a] guy that look[s] like a walking chandelier".
- When Rex first builds the Smack Hands, the classic gear background from Generator Rex is seen.
- Humungousaur indirectly named the Punk Busters.
Trivia[]
- The name of this episode was first discovered on Andrei Lenart's portfolio site and a Spanish dubbing website.[1][2]
- The idea of Ben 10 and Generator Rex characters living in the same universe is a repurposed concept that the crew tried to use in the classic timeline. However, the idea never came to pass back then due to both series having different toy licenses. This special is the crew's way of rectifying the scrapped "shared universe" concept.[3]
- A crossover between the Ben 10 reboot and Generator Rex was first hinted by Duncan Rouleau, though it was intended to air during season 3 before being postponed for season 5.[4]
- Duncan also confirmed Vic Chao would be be making a guest appearance, but avoided spoiling which character Chao would be voicing.
- This is the second movie/special to crossover with Generator Rex, the first being "Ben 10-Generator Rex: Heroes United". As such, Daryl Sabara and John DiMaggio both reprise their roles as Rex and Bobo from the original Generator Rex series.
- This is also the fourth crossover with Generator Rex in general if the comic Hero Times Two and Rex's cameo in Crossover Nexus are counted.
- Six is voiced by Vic Chao, replacing Wally Kurth from the original Generator Rex series, due to the producers being unable to contact Kurth.
- When asked on Twitter if she will return to play Holiday in the crossover, Grey DeLisle said "I hope so".[5]
